Do You Have to Wash Your Hair for Ghusl After Period? Read This!
Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of “do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?”? If your answer is “Yes”, congratulations! Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That's why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!
Specifically, there are two important things about “do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?” which I will explain in this article. Two important things I mean are as follows:
What Should You Do After Period?
The first important thing about “do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?” what I will explain now is “what should you do after period?”. I want you to understand that first before you read more explanations in this article because it is an important question about period in Islam that must be well understood.
Before I explain the answer to that question (what should you do after period?), I will quote a verse from the Quran and two hadiths that are specifically related to this discussion. One verse of the Quran and two hadiths that I am referring to are as follows:
They ask you about menstruation. Say, "Menstruation is something dirty." That is why you should stay away from women when they are menstruating. And do not approach them until they are pure. If they are pure, then come to them where Allah has commanded you. Verily, Allah loves those who repent and those who purify themselves." (Al-Baqarah: 222).
The two hadiths that I mean are as follows:
Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "If menstruation has come, then do not pray. If it (menstruation) has gone, then clean the menstrual blood and pray."
From Aisha radliyallaahu Taala anhaa, she said, “When we arrived at Sarif, I was on my period. The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam then said, "Do something that is usually done by people who perform Hajj, but you do not perform tawaf in the Baitul Haram until you are pure." This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
All readers! If we understand one verse of the Quran and the two hadiths above, we can conclude that the answer to the question (what should you do after period?) is ghusl Janabah. After period, Muslim women must perform ghusl Janabah to eliminate major hadas. That's the answer.
That's a brief explanation of “what should you do after period?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.
Do You Have to Wash Your Hair for Ghusl After Period?
The second important thing about “do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?” what I'm going to explain now is a specific answer. So, I really hope you read the explanation below very well.
Before I explain the answer to the question (do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?), I will quote three hadiths that specifically relate to the question. The three hadiths I mean are as follows:
From Abu Hurairah radliyallaahu anhu, he said, "Allah's Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam has said, "Indeed, under every hair there is a janabah. Wash your hair and clean the skin!" The hadith is narrated by Abu Daud and at-Tirmidhi.
From Ali ibn Abi Talib radliyallaahu anhu, "Allah's Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever has got the place of hair from janabah, then he will use this and like this in Hell."
From Aisha radliallahu anha, she said, "if the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam bathes from the janaba, then he begins by washing his hands, then he takes precedence to wash his right hand from the left body then he washed his anus. Then he graduated. Then he took water and put his fingers into the base of the hair. Then he poured three hands of water three times. Then he drained water over all his bodies. Then he washed his hands. "The hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
All readers! If we understand the three hadiths above, we can conclude that you should wash your hair for ghusl after period. That's the answer.
The niyyat for ghusl after period is as follows:
I intend to take a bath to get rid of the big hadas, as an obligation, because of Allah Taala.
That's the short explanation of “do you have to wash your hair for ghusl after period?” and some important things about it. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!
I think that's enough for this article. May be useful. Amen.
See you again in the next article!
The way you broke down the explanation into two key sections – "What Should You Do After a Period?" and "Do You Have to Wash Your Hair for Ghusl After a Period?" – is absolutely brilliant. Starting with the Quranic verse and hadiths provided such a strong foundation for understanding this practice. It really shows how every aspect of ghusl is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, which is both comforting and enlightening for someone like me who is still learning the basics.
I also appreciate how you included not just the rulings, but the niyyat (intention) for ghusl. That was a thoughtful touch, as it emphasizes the spiritual aspect of this act, not just the physical requirements. The detailed explanation of how to perform ghusl step-by-step was incredibly helpful, especially the mention of washing the hair thoroughly to ensure no part is left dry. It's easy to overlook small details like that, but your article left no room for doubt.
What stood out most to me was how accessible your language is. You avoided overly complex terminology, which can be overwhelming for someone who is new to Islam. Instead, you explained everything in a clear and friendly manner, making this article not only informative but also welcoming and approachable.
Thank you for taking the time to write this. It's clear that you have a deep understanding of the topic and a genuine desire to help others learn. May Allah bless you for your efforts and grant you continued success in sharing such valuable knowledge. This article will undoubtedly benefit many others just as it has helped me. I look forward to reading more of your work!
