Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?"? If your answer is "Yes," congratulations! You are now reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand this, which is why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!

Specifically, there are some important things about "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?" that I will explain in this article. Some important aspects I will cover are as follows:

What Happens If You Fart During Wudu?

The important thing about "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?" that I will explain now is "What happens if you fart during wudu?". I want you to understand this first before you read any further explanations in this article because it is one of the key questions in this discussion that should be well understood.

Wudu is one way to purify the body from minor hadas. In wudu, there are several parts of the body that must be washed and rubbed. Some parts of the body that must be washed are the face, the palms of the hands up to the elbows, and the two feet up to the ankles. Some parts of the body that must be rubbed are some hair and the two ears. In general, Muslims perform wudu before they pray, do tawaf, read the Quran, and so on.

If we have done all the obligatory acts in wudu, our wudu is valid, and we are pure from minor hadas.

But one thing that some Muslims don't understand is, "What happens if you fart during wudu?".

The answer is very simple: if you fart during wudu, your wudu has been invalidated because the act of passing gas breaks some of the conditions required for valid wudu. That’s the answer.

That’s a brief explanation of "What happens if you fart during wudu?". As Muslims, we must understand this.

Why Does Farts Break Wudu?

The important thing about "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?" that I will explain now is "Why does farting break wudu?". I want you to understand this now because it is one of the important questions on this topic that must be well understood. There are some Muslims who do not fully understand this.

In general, if we read some Islamic legal literature on farting and wudu, we will find an explanation that there are three reasons why farting breaks wudu. The three reasons I mean are as follows:

  • Fart is one of those things that comes out of the back hole (anus or الدُّبُرُ).

I think the first reason why farting breaks wudu is very obvious. Farting is one of the things that come out of the back hole (anus or الدُّبُرُ). I've explained that in the previous paragraphs.

The hadith that explains that farting is one of the things that break wudu.

  • There are many hadiths about farting. Some examples are as follows:

From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "If one of you feels something in his stomach and doubts whether something has come out of him or not, he should not leave the mosque until he hears a sound or smells an odor." This hadith was narrated by Muslim.

From Ali bin Thalq radliyallahu anhu, he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) said, "If one of you has emitted a soundless wind from his anus while praying (salat), let him go out, perform wudu, and repeat the prayer (salat)." The hadith was narrated by five collectors (Ahmad, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah).

From 'Abbad bin Tamim, from his uncle, there was a man who complained to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that he was unsure if he had passed gas during his prayer (salat). The Prophet said, "He should not break his prayer or leave until he hears a sound or smells an odor."

  • If a Muslim has farted, he has a small hadas.

We can find an explanation that farting is one of the things that causes Muslims to have a small hadas in the following hadith:

From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "Allah does not accept the prayer of someone if he has hadas (minor impurity) until he performs wudu." This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

That’s a brief explanation of "Why does farting break wudu?". As Muslims, we must understand this.

Do You Have to Do Full Wudu If You Fart?

The important thing about "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?" that I am going to explain now is a specific answer. So, you should read the explanation below very carefully.

In the previous paragraphs, I have explained that if you fart during wudu, your wudu is invalidated because some of the actions performed during wudu have been broken by the act of farting. I have also explained that wudu is one way to purify the body from minor hadas. This means that farting is one of the things that nullify the sanctity of the body or causes Muslims to have a small hadas.

Now, if you ask me "Do you have to do full wudu if you fart?", the answer is "Yes. You have to do full wudu if you fart." That is the answer.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you are wondering whether you need to perform full wudu if you fart, the answer is indeed "Yes." Farting during wudu invalidates the wudu because it breaks the conditions required for its validity. Wudu is intended to purify the body from minor impurities, and farting, being one of the acts that cause minor hadas, disrupts this state of purity. This article has clarified why farting necessitates a complete renewal of wudu, based on Islamic teachings and hadiths. Understanding these principles is crucial for maintaining proper ablution and ensuring the validity of your prayers. If you have any more questions on this topic, feel free to ask. I hope this explanation has been helpful. Ameen.

See you again in the next article!
